Dinner With 12 Strangers

Although we can’t gather together in person, Dinner with 12 Strangers (D12) is back, virtual style!

We invite alumni, faculty and staff to host small group, topic-based conversations with students. Each conversation offers students the opportunity to network with Emory alumni, ask questions about life after college, interact with alumni, professors, and have a meaningful out of the classroom experience.

Conversations span from a traditional D12 networking conversation (“Cheers & Check-In”), to professional (“Future of Work”), to addressing what current students may experience as they carve out their path at Emory (“Inclusive Leadership”). Join us at the table as we navigate change through connection, education, and individual action!

Sit down as Strangers. Stand up as Friends.

“Hosting a Dinner w/12 Strangers is very rewarding as it allows me to spend time with students. Not only do I learn about how wonderful they are, but it gives me hope knowing how much they wish to change the world”. ~Tammy Camfield 89Ox 91C

What's new this year?

  • Conversations will take place over the course of March 2021
  • Host are able to select their own date and time (keep in mind students will be the main attendees)
  • Targeted conversation size is 6-8 attendees, excluding host

Can I co-host?

Absolutely. Co-hosting with classmates, colleagues, friends, or a spouse/partner is a great option, especially for first-time hosts. Due to smaller attendee sizes for the platform we ask that there are no more than 2 hosts per scheduled conversation

“I had the opportunity to co-host with two of my closest friends/Emory classmates and it was such a memorable experience. Welcoming students into my home was a fantastic way to support Emory and to make connections that still exist today. Hosting was easy—we split the cost among the three of us, divided up responsibilities, and enjoyed a warm evening with new friends. If you have the space to host, sign up! Everything that follows is simple.”
