Emory Cares International Service Day, at its heart, is about living out Emory’s mission to serve humanity. Every year, the Emory community—alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and friends—comes together in celebration of this mission by participating in service projects from down the street in Atlanta to around the world.

Established in 2003, through the work of Renelda Mack 83C, then–president of the Emory Alumni Board (EAB) (known at the time as the Board of Governors), this collaboration between the Emory Alumni Association (EAA) and Volunteer Emory has quickly become one of Emory’s favorite traditions and a flagship program of the EAA. Emory Cares unites diverse members of the community through the common goal of service, while simultaneously reinforcing positive values and a strong community mindset. Through Emory Cares International Service Day, we nourish our relationships within the Emory Community, increase Emory’s visibility across the nation and around the world, strengthen our partnerships with community and governmental organizations, and improve our many and diverse home communities worldwide.
